The Blue Wing Mountains-Seven Troughs HMA's are part of an interconnected group of HMA's that include Shawave & Nightingale HMA's.
I am not aware that these four HMA's are managed as a continuous complex. But I have been there and can attest that there is absolutely nothing to keep the horses & burros from moving from one area to another. It is also no surprise that the horses from these four areas share many characteristics. They are medium sized horses, stout and sturdily built. Colors include all three base colors (black, red, bay), with a high percentage of roans, as well as a few sabinos, maximum sabinos (pure white), and rabicanos. This area also has wonderful burros. | "This is my horse Sheer Perfection AKA Mango. She is from the Winnemucca District and from the Blue Wing Mountain Herd. She was born in 1985 and a friend adopted her. I have had her for 6 years and we have over come lots of obstacles together. In this picture we are presenting the colors and we are representing the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Mounted Honor Guard. The National Anthem is playing and we are the proud bearer of the American Flag. This is at the National Horse Show in Wellington, Florida. - Elaine Andrews
