 Going forward
October 2001: We've had Ruby a full year now!
After this great beginning, Ruby had a serious setback. Somehow she caught her leg in either a vine or a wire that we didn't know about, somewhere in her pasture, and seriously cut her foreleg right down to the tendon sheath. Luckily, the tendon itself was not damages, and thanks to some incredible late night surgery, and a 2-week hospital stay with Dr. Claudia Sonder, Ruby recovered with absolutely no hint of lameness. But her time in confinement took a toll on Ruby emotionally, and Michael nearly had to start over with gentling. Eventually she came through this, too! What a survivor! |
